Welcome To The Inaugural

Bended Knee Music Festival

A Celebration of Regional Music
In The Heart Of The Goldfields

The indigenous Wathaurrung people gave the small town of Buninyong its name, meaning "man lying down with bent knee" which reflects the shape of Mount Buninyong (from a distance) which the town is nestled beneath, therefore inspiring the name:  Bended Knee Music Festival.

From established well known acts to emerging artists, we welcome you to the small historical town of Buninyong in Central Victoria to enjoy an expression of roots music as part of this new music Festival.   Our innovative Bended Knee Music Festival is a dynamic and exciting new celebration of regional music. The program is designed to energise and entertain. From traditional and upbeat to the offbeat and the imaginative, it features music and performance that draw audiences from everywhere to be a part of it.

Our vibrant festival aims to pay particular homage to local talent from Regional Victoria, featuring acts to suit every age. Individual concerts have been designed to showcase music in a number of small venues around the town and at our main stage in the town centre.

Our historic festival site, the township of Buninyong, will be populated with bars, food and market stalls and  buskers. Numerous venues  provide a range of concert and performance-based experiences from our big concerts at larger venues to more intimate spaces such as churches and private gardens where you can enjoy a more up-close experience with the performers.

If you’ve always dreamed of playing the fiddle, reciting poetry or performing a bush dance with your family then here is your chance!

Our interactive program includes a range of exciting workshops and an all ages bush dance on the Friday night where participation is essential.

As festival organisers we recognise the significance of the land on which the festival is held to the indigenous people of the area.
